It was a good decision for that race, because I had totally forgotten how to even run a race! I do think sometimes the Garmin hurts more than helps (like if it is a distraction), but overall I like being able to check my pace when I think I might be carried away by the race energy.Graciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05641028266038110278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2189875022254484779.post-45078871489925471972021-09-06T21:45:13.603-04:002021-09-06T21:45:13.603-04:00I would bust your chops and call you getting old a...I would bust your chops and call you getting old and slow but you've been going thru a lot of little things and hence I wouldn't look too much into it. I know the feeling though, I'm am doing the same thing with all my longer training runs feeling off the past few weeks, yet when I race it's like holy crap where did that come from?

The question really is, what is your goal race? Is it this 5K, is it the half marathon you do in 4 weeks, or is it Richmond? The rest of the races are just us seeing where we are at. I have another question for you given I haven't read your entire blog from beginning to end, how many races have you been the 1st lady finisher in your life, given I don't know!! That in itself was awesome to read. I think you're recovering pretty damn well from things and I appreciate your blog and rooting for you!!Davehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16727212475858505605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2189875022254484779.post-56487399881812438252021-09-06T10:21:31.515-04:002021-09-06T10:21:31.515-04:00Well be happy with these results. Is the fastest time for you the most important goal, or to win the race or place? Keep with the strategy to avoid relying on the watch and race it by feel. You probably need to be more patient and give it more time to regain former conditioning and strength. You ran a great race and that is all that counts in the long run! Maybe had you ran faster in first mile, maybe it results in faltering late stage. From my perspective a near perfect 5k race performance! Those kids were super fast! I'm glad you won and you did a great job with pacing!
